We all love chimpanzees, but did you know they are headed for extinction? Fortunately, there is hope. The remarkable folks at Lwiro Primates Rehabilitation Center provide food, medical care, and shelter to chimps who were orphaned by poachers and illegal wildlife traffickers.
Lwiro’s ultimate goal is to release healthy chimps into a vast, protected national park in the Congo to regrow the wild population.
In the meantime, those active little chimps get mighty hungry. So, this Giving Day for Apes, I am raising money to feed them.
Lwiro spends about $1,700 every week to feed the 130 chimps and 110 monkeys in its care.
Would you like to feed them? Here’s what your contribution will do:
$25 will buy over 200 lbs of avocados.
$35 will buy over 400 lbs of cabbage.
$50 will buy over 300 lbs of oranges.
With $70 you can provide a week’s supply of bananas (Yeah, they eat them a lot. Hey, if I were offered cabbage or a banana, I’d pick the banana too!)
Please feed the chimps. Any contribution, in any amount, really does help.
The chimps would say "Thank You!" (but their mouths are full -- thanks to you!)
