Bella's Happily Ever After!

Update posted 7 months ago

Bella got her fairy tail ending and headed to her new home. No doubt she's going to be so spoiled and loved! She has all the toys imaginable as well as her own fenced in backyard to zoom around in! Her mom reports that she's settling in great and already made herself right at home snuggled up on the couch! So grateful to everyone who helped make this a possibility! Thank you thank you!!!

The rescue world never sleeps.

Bella, an almost 2 year old Doberman Pinscher was brought in by her owners to VCA Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals over the holiday weekend.  Her owners stated that she vomited up a sock 3 days prior to presenting to the hospital and has been vomiting and unable to keep food down since.  Radiographs were done and it was evident that Bella ingested a second sock which had made its way into the intestines and was causing a bowel obstruction. It was definite that surgery had to be performed that same night which left Bella's owners with limited options. While unable to pay for the emergency surgery and in order to avoid euthanasia,  Bella's owners made the brave decision to surrender her to JR's Pups-N-Stuff. Even though our little rescue with a big heart has a new facility that needs remodeling, a van that needs fixing, and other outstanding vet bills, our director couldn't say no to helping sweet Bella. With the green light from JR's the amazing staff at VCA MECA was able to get Bella into surgery right away and remove the sock! She is recovering in the ICU but isn't out of the woods yet.

Venus, a beautiful Great Dane, in our rescue was playing fetch with a volunteer, decided she didn't want to give the ball back, and ate it instead.  The JR's team did what they could to help her, but unfortunately, Venus needed emergency surgery to remove the tennis ball, and then had to spend a few nights at the Veterinary Clinic to recover.  Venus has ongoing expenses with her recovery including follow up Vet visits.

We are hoping that you can contribute to our emergency medical fund. Contributions to this fund will help cover Bella's & Venus's very expensive surgeries and hospital stays as well as continue helping other animals who have medical emergencies in the future.

Any donation is appreciated, single or recurring, and no amount is too small. In order for JR's to continue to help Bella, Venus, and other dogs like her with their medical emergencies we need your support!  All donations are tax deductible!
