Here's a little about how YOU make the difference at our little shelter that can!
In addition to our important life-saving local efforts for dogs of all ages, needs & backgrounds, here is a heart-warming story of other work we do:
These 10 littermate love bugs all flew in on Wings of Rescue 11/22/2016 and were saved from death row. They fulfilled 10 local families' wishes for a puppy to enhance their lives.
About this Wings of Rescue Partnership from their blog https://www.wingsofrescue.org/blog/3283/
βToday there are no kill shelters in the Pacific Northwest who have no dogs to adopt and lots of empty kennels. Concurrently there are thousands of friendly, deserving, highly adoptable cats and dogs who will be killed this week at overcrowded shelters throughout the country. They donβt need to die as anonymous nameless pets in overcrowded shelters when they could fill the world with love somewhere else. It costs on average $100 to fly a pet from a high kill shelter in California to a no kill shelter in Washington, Idaho, Oregon or Montana. β Humane Society of the Ochocos is proud to be that βsomewhere elseβ some of these pets can go by being a partner in this life-saving operation. We have the added benefit of having shelter operations adjacent to a small regional airport!
"Personally, it's just rewarding, because I know we're going to find great homes for these dogs that otherwise would be euthanized," said Heather O'Daniel, Executive Director of Humane Society of the Ochocos.
The rescued dogs went through health screenings & vaccinations before beginning their new lives in loving homes throughout Central Oregon.
