The Louisville Nature Center (LNC) was founded in 1964 with a mission to promote and inspire environmental stewardship and to be a catalyst for conservation through environmental education and connection to nature for every person. Their vision is a community where everyone is inspired to be stewards of the natural world.
In addition to maintaining and restoring 80 acres of urban forest, LNC works to teach the public about sustainability, nature, and environmental conservation. LNC work with people from all over Greater Louisville, including 4,500 school-age youth each year via camps, field trips, family programs, the Cultural Pass, and our Swallowtail Forest School, urban Louisville’s first nature preschool.
After 60 years, LNC remains a cornerstone of Louisville's conservation efforts, and their work is crucial for the prosperity of our community and the education of the next generation of environmental stewards.
As the city of Louisville continues to grow and has the fastest-growing urban heat island affect in the country, LNC needs a needs a high-quality nature center. They are prepared to cement their role as the hub of environmental education in Louisville now and in the future.
Please help me in supporting Louisville Nature Center as they embark on their 60th year and create a new and exciting nature center that will last for generations to come.
