What does Mount Sequoyah Center truly do?  They bring people together.  In a world increasingly marked by seclusion, they are building bridges of connection, fostering community, and combating the isolation epidemic through shared creative and cultural experiences. They do this by subsidizing affordable studio space for 67 artists, providing paid workshop opportunities for artists, and creating exhibitions and arts markets that connect artists with clients. They also maintain scholarship rates for afterschool Arts Camp and the Clay Studio.

As Corita Kent said, " To create means to relate. The root meaning of the word art is “to fit together” and we all do this every day.” Mount Sequoyah is a unique place where so many in our community find their fit.

Take Jordan, for example. He started our clay studio program in 2022, not just for personal practice, but for connection. "Despite starting as a mere idea two years ago, The Clay Studio has grown into a thriving community of artists -- and we exist within the larger community of painters, musicians, writers, actors, and so on who have found a creative home on Mount Sequoyah. There’s an openness, accessibility, and diversity of expression on The Mountain unlike anything I’ve encountered before, despite having sought after places like this my whole life. In the end I stumbled onto it almost by accident, but however you find your way home is alright.” Jordan's story is just one of many, where a simple activity blossoms into a vibrant community.

You can help to ensure everyone, regardless of income, can experience the transformative power of connection at Mount Sequoyah.
