Hello! This year I will be raising much-needed funds and awareness for food rescue during Give for Good Louisville. Kentucky Harvest’s People Helping People began in 1987 in an effort to end local food insecurity using rescued food. To date, we have rescued over 87 million pounds of food and provided meals for countless people in need.
The mission of Kentucky Harvest is to end local hunger by connecting with food donors and engaging volunteers to rescue excess food and move it from those who have it to those in need.
As a regular volunteer, donor, and Board member, I’ve witnessed the grateful smiles of families and seniors receiving much needed food from their local food pantry, and I’m proud to know that Kentucky Harvest played a critical link to provide it. I also know there are more families in need and there is more food waiting to be rescued!
To meet this need, Kentucky Harvest is focused on growing and developing local partnerships by connecting food companies with charities and using our network of volunteers to rescue food.
Give for Good Louisville is a 24-hour giving challenge to celebrate the generosity of our great community, so please join this movement by contributing on September 12! All donations will be matched up to $10,000 by the Papa John’s Foundation for Building Community. Check out our page here: https://www.giveforgoodlouisville.org/organization/kentucky-harvest-inc
Thank you for supporting me and Kentucky Harvest!
Regards,
Cindy Adkins
