#Shoes4SchoolsGuatemala Update 2

Update posted 7 years ago

Alirio is a 14 year old high school student in the 7th grade. He is the 4th oldest of 8 children. His mother Gloria has struggled to get her children educated even though she cannot read or write herself. Five years ago while she was pregnant with her eighth child, her husband was murdered. In the midst of this stressful period, Gloria continued to move forward so her children could attend school. Alirio has grown to be a determined young man who honors his mother and supports his siblings by working on the weekends. A guaranteed pair of school shoes would really help.

We have dozens of these stories from my recent trips to Chiquimula, Guatemala. For this reason, I am committed to raising $3,000 which will provide 150 elementary through high school age children like Alirio with a new pair of shoes as they return back to school from the Christmas/New Year break in January 2018. All monies received from you will be given to Thirst No More Corporation (TNMC) in partnership with Watchman On The Walls Ministries, Ltd. to address the need. We must place an order with a shoe factory located in Guatemala City by November 30, 2017 so they will be ready for distribution by January 2018. One hundred percent of monies received will go directly to the purchase of these shoes and all donations are tax deductible.

Please join me in helping support children like Alirio by making a donation to my page at: https://www.thirstnomorecorp.org/projects

Imagine a father unable to provide for his wife and 5 children because his community is so impoverished that he barely has the opportunity and proper educational background required to find employment. Imagine that same father having to look day after day at those same 5 children and finally be forced to tell them he can’t afford to pay for their school shoes because he can’t find work and thus they must stay home. Imagine similar scenarios taking place with other families in the same community.

We are committed to raising $3,000 which will provide 150 elementary through high school age children like the ones in our story, with a new pair of shoes as they return back to school from the Christmas/New Year break in January 2018. All monies received from you will be given to cause. We must place an order with a shoe factory located in Guatemala City by November 30, 2017 so they will be ready by January 2018. One hundred percent of monies received will go directly to the purchase of these shoes.
