Hey, Friends!
As most of you know, I am passionate about this cause because my life has been deeply affected by addiction. My childhood and adulthood have been shaped by it. People I love dearly have lost their lives. Relationships I value have been at stake. I want to help the world stop the cycle, one person at a time, one day at a time. I have also seen that people can and DO recover.
Not only do individuals in recovery get sober, but they get to take back their lives. When you look at a person in recovery, you see more than the absence of substances; you know the restoration God has provided them. I have seen debts paid, relationships and careers restored, seeds planted, fruit produced. I have witnessed many lives being given to the Lord and baptisms following. The love of God has surrounded our mission, and people are being SAVED.
Arkansas faces significant gaps in substance use treatment availability. This is compounded by financial barriers. Even for individuals who are insured, treatment programs may be too costly or inaccessible. -Arkansas Department of Human Services
People are turned away from treatment centers daily because of their insurance policies, or the lack thereof.
I believe in the impact of substance use treatment on individuals in recovery, the people in their lives, and the community as a whole, because I have seen it with my own eyes.
This isn't a material or unnecessary investment; these are LIVES being SAVED. ALL contributions go into the John Schubert Scholarship Fund, allowing us to serve people who need financial help with treatment costs. The lack of insurance coverage should never be a barrier to individuals who are desperate for help.
Thank you for taking the time to read about this fundraiser, and for entrusting me to speak my truth.
Your gift will save lives. ❤️
Love always,
Makala Brown
