Brielle and Stella have participated in Code/Art's coding club, competitions and Code/Art Fest since 2019. Code/Art has inspired Brielle to pursue a career in tech. Thanks to the exemplary women she's met over the years through Code/Art, she dreams of becoming a Data Scientist for a prestigious organization like NASA.
People are often surprised to learn that women are still significantly underrepresented in tech. In fact, women comprise less than twenty-five percent of the computing workforce. Even worse, women of color comprise only four percent of the computing workforce.
Code/Art is driving diversity and inclusion in tech by reaching into every neighborhood in Miami and inspiring girls to code. Code/Art has introduced more than 8,000 girls in South Florida to computer science since 2016. Of these girls, 18% identify as Black or African American and 67% identify as Hispanic or Latina.
