Project 1 -New Rowing Boat
During the recent Tropical Storm Delta, the BlazeSports only rowing boat was damaged beyond repair. Our Veteran athletes rely on this boat to participate in adaptive rowing. Blaze athlete Anita Willingham, said “before joining the rowing team my muscles were weak, I would get tired easily, I was in constant pain, and I would often stumble or sometimes fall because I did not have good balance. Rowing has also helped me with my PTSD symptoms. Being on the water is calming and helps with my anxiety. Rowing is extremely important to my physical and mental well-being. " GOAL - $2,500
Project 2 - Warehouse Shelves
Purchase and install shelving in our warehouse to support and manage our Adaptive Equipment and Equipment Loan Program efficiently. With our recent move, our warehouse is in need of new shelves to store our mission critical adaptative sports equipment, used in all of our adaptive sport and recreation programs. GOAL - $1,500
Project 3 - Wheelchair Basketball Facility
BlazeSports relies on partners who often donate facilities for our youth programs. With COVID these facilities have remained closed. Thus, we are currently paying a large fee to rent facilities in order to continue to offer our signature programs to BlazeSports youth athletes including wheelchair basketball. Blaze parent and basketball coach Marc Lancaster has said "As a parent, the world of adaptive sport is the best thing that ever happened to Collin...I cannot saw enough how important (adaptive sport) is in their personal growth, personal awareness and personal health to get them active....learning these person skills or team skills just prepares them for life." GOAL - $5,000
