When school dismisses on Friday, 30% of New Albany Floyd County Schools pre-K through 6th-grade students would leave their classroom unsure of whether they will have enough to eat until school starts again next Monday, if not for the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. The NAFC Education Foundation is an official partner with the Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County strives to ensure that NAFC school children who rely on the federal free and reduced lunch program for their weekly meals don’t go hungry on the weekend or when school is closed. The program operates at all of the NAFC elementary & middle schools from pre-K to 6th grade. We are currently serving over 2,000 students across 12 schools. Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County is completely self-funded and 100% of donations go toward covering the cost of food provided to the children weekly.
