The Bear Creek High School Music Program has a long tradition of pride and prestige. High school music activities, in general, contribute significantly to the development of disciplined, responsible young people and provide one of the most wholesome activities for high school students. Many of our musicians earn awards for excellence in solo and ensemble contests and have been selected to participate in honor bands and orchestras at the district, state, and national levels.
Over the years, the Bear Creek High School Music Program has consisted of as many as 200 students participating in Orchestra, Concert Band, Marching Band, Percussive Studies, Jazz Band, Guitar, Winter Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard and the school musical. These ensembles have a long history of excellence throughout the Jefferson County School District, the State of Colorado, and the nation.
But did you know that the school and district budgets only provide about 7% of the amount needed to operate our current music program? All of the programs above must draw their resources from this budget. While it is unfortunate, the school budget is not sufficient for even the most basic expenses. Uniforms, instruments, instrument repairs, entrance fees, transportation, music rental, instructors and other items are all funded by parents and students in the Bear Creek High School Music Booster organization. Therefore, we engage in a variety of fundraising events. Our annual Craft Fair is an eagerly awaited community event. We ask for yearly donations during TAG (Today Is About Gifts) Day and offer individual fundraising opportunities to help offset the cost of fair share contributions for families.
Music changes lives. Our students will tell you this. Please help us to keep music alive and thriving at Bear Creek High School! We would be grateful for whatever contribution you can make, however large or small. Thank you!
Checks can also be made payable to BCHSIMP and mailed directly to the school at the following address. Please note "TAG Day" in the memo.
