Why?
BAA did a lot of great work in 10 years, but it did more than clean creeks and plant urban gardens. It also touched the lives of many, many people. Ostensibly an environmental group, it also became the cradle of long-lasting friendships and relationships, even culminating in marriages and kids. Numerous businesses, collectives, and several offshoot nonprofits also sprang forth from BAA over the years.
And then there was “the next generation.” The education programs of BAA guided students from middle- and high-school-age to be more conscious citizens who asked the tough questions of society, whether it was about ecology and science or social justice. Have you ever wondered what happened to them when they grew into adulthood?
The 3 project goals/fundraisers:
- Digitize and organize the BAA Archives
- Find a permanent home for the BAA Archives
- Tell people's stories
