A nonprofit fundraiser supporting
East Bay Asian Youth CenterAYPAL is celebrating 18 years of Building API Community Power! Support youth to organize for school and neighborhood change in Oakland.
$10,965
raised by 115 people
$10,000 goal
For nearly two decades, youth involved in AYPAL have been learning, growing, and building together to improve the conditions of their schools and communities.
AYPAL has engaged over 5000 young people in grassroots campaigns throughout it's history. This legacy organization is now taking root in fighting against displacement in Oakland, and towards visibility for the issues impacting the lives of Asian Pacific Islander and other underrepresented youth of color in our city.
This year past school year:
- AYPAL youth passed legistlation at Oakland Unified School District to increase the visability of API students
- Cost an unjust developer thousands of dollars by slowing down city permitting processes in Oakland
- Launched two new events to challenge gentrification and increase the voice of young people in oakland (videos above) and much more!
We hope you will join us in this moment, in this opportunity to reclaim our cultures and our communities. #WeHere
