A-WOL is a Portland, Oregon, non-profit that provides the local community with a place to make friends, laugh and learn aerial and dance and is getting hit hard financially by the COVID-19 outbreak.
A-WOL Dance is a non-profit that relies on income from a regular schedule of youth and adult classes. With the COVID-19 outbreak, the non-profit has had to close its doors for all classes for 2 weeks or possibly more. The non-profit needs close to $35,000 to keep running during a month. This fundraiser is to help cover employee expenses and the building rent. I am starting at $50,000 but if we can exceed that amount, it would be amazing!
As both a board member and a member of the adult aerial intensive program, Fly-Co. A-WOL has helped me become a stronger person both physically and mentally. I started attending as an outlet to relieve stress from work and found so much more - friendly faces and supportive staff. I started learning skills on fabric that I would have never dreamed to be possible. After a few classes, I found a family of friends that is always supportive of you, even when you don't think you can do something correctly.
I am starting this fundraising to keep A-WOL alive and be able to survive this pandemic. Not only in the business struggling, but employees, contractors and even students are having financial troubles. A-WOL is a place of community that lots of students come to as a safe space to learn and be themselves and I want to see it remain that way for years to come.
No donation is too small, $5 is something that helps make sure A-WOL will keep running. If 100 people give $5 each - that can add up quickly to $500, so don't think any amount is too small
