Refugees have been a very controversial subject in the news this past year.  Conflicts around the world have created the largest number of displaced persons ever recorded; surpassing even the numbers after World War II.  However, despite the fear mongering and proposals to close our doors to refugees, the Agency for New Americans still believes that compassion and welcome should be core American values and works towards that end!

ANA has been resettling refugees in Boise for 20 years and has seen many inspiring stories unfold.  Just in the past year, we have a seen a single mother who struggled so much at first, perservere and be named "Employee of the Month" at her workplace.  We have seen families reunited after many years apart.  We have seen a refugee youth receive the honor of "Idaho State Soccer Player of the Year".  We have seen refugees find healing from long term health problems.

Refugees are some of the most resilient and hard working people you will ever meet!  They face a challenging road to become self-sufficient and integrated into our community, but with our collective support, they become contributing members of our community!

ANA is raising funds this year for two primary areas:  housing (rent assistance) and employment (bicycles, uniforms, tools). Housing and employment greatly increase a refugee's overall stability and allows them to feel rooted and connected here. Your donations will go a long way to helping ANA's clients with these two vital forms of assistance!!
