MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Since 1983, Advocates for Children has been caring for children and families who have been impacted by child abuse and neglect. For over 38 years, our organization has expanded to serve 11 counties in North Georgia through an umbrella of programs that provide direct services to children and youth, as well as supportive services to parents, non-offending caregivers, and families.
We offer ten programs of intervention and prevention services, addressing risk factors such as poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and domestic violence. In 2020, we served over 13,000 people and earned accreditation by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for best-practice standards in the field of human services.

Mariah's Success Story
Mariah entered into the RISE program needing assistance with housing for her and her son. Mariah had many goals when she entered the program, including finding stable employment, obtaining affordable childcare, purchasing a vehicle, and finding health insurance for both herself and her son. With the help of her case manager and independent living coordinator, Mariah focused on each of these goals and helped create new ones to advance her independence.
As Mariah was able to realize her attainable short-term goals, she was encouraged to look towards long-term goals. She was able to reconcile with her family and look forward to the future, expressing her goal of becoming a homeowner by the end of the program.
At her 6-month follow-up, Mariah informed her case manager that she continued to budget since her exit from the program and was able to purchase the car she had been saving for. Recently, Mariah moved into her new home that she now owns. Mariah is excited for the positive changes happening in her life and sent her thanks to the RISE program for helping her attain her goals.
