Gift of Identity Fund for International Adoptees

International adoptees who travel to their birth country are able to see where their lives started. They often visit their places of birth or founding, go to their orphanages or foster homes, meet their first caregivers, and in some cases are able to meet their birth families. 

They learn their stories.  And that's important.

Equally important, they interact with people in their birth country and  realize the people who share their heritage are warm, wonderful, genuine people. As they look in the mirror, a new sense of pride in their unique identity emerges.

Gift of Identity grant recipients travel with other international adoptees via Adoptive Family Travel by The Ties Program. There is no way to overstate the importance of adoptees traveling together on this particular trip. Among them, they create a beautiful community. For many international adoptees, it is the first time they feel they completely belong. 

The impact on identity is life changing....a true Gift of Identity that is not possible any other way.
