When I started i-tri 10 years ago, I never imagined how much it would impact my life- my daughter’s life and the lives of those in my family and my community. This past summer my husband became ill very suddenly and passed in a very short time. The support Abby and I received from our i-tri family was overwhelming! All of the love that we had poured into this program and our girls came back to us 10-fold. Girls who had been in the very first group of i-tri 10 years ago were there immediately to support Abby and so many people commented on how beautiful it was to have girls and their families from all of the 10 seasons there supporting us at the wake and funeral. I was humbled and beyond grateful. But at the end of the day that is what i-tri is. The girls will tell you – i-tri is so much more than a race- we become a FAMILY! And a family is there for each other to celebrate the good times and to love each other through the hard times.
It is time now to start celebrating the GOOD TIMES and this year we celebrate a milestone- our 10th Anniversary! This year we will be serving girls in 10 schools while at the same time we are working on a strategy that will bring i-tri out into the world as we plan for a national and ultimately an international expansion!
That is why I have set the goal of raising $10,000 by #OneIslandGivingDay on October 25th. I know that you will be bombarded by donation requests this "Giving Season" but please know that every dollar counts AND every single dollar raised through this campaign goes directly to supporting the Girls on their journey!
I have had the great honor of witnessing the transformation that occurs when girls who would have never consider themselves to be athletes- train their MIND-BODY and SPIRITS over the course of i-tri's 6th month program. i-tri provided my daughter Abby with the opportunity to become the Leader that she is today and is providing that same opportunity to the girls that she mentored during her time in i-tri who are in turn mentoring others!
I am so appreciative of your support!
