My role as the Development Manager with Denver Rood Rescue has changed the way I look at food. Maybe you've heard that 38% of all food in the US goes to uneaten (Feeding America). That fact doesn't fully hit until your standing in the back of a grocery store, looking at a mountain of boxes of fresh, surplus food that would otherwise be discarded. By recovering that food, were preventing the emissions caused by food waste - we go even further by transporting food by e-bike!

We take the fresh food we recover straight to one of our 21 No Cost Grocery Program partners where it goes out to community members for free, without any barriers. Our direct model allows us to focus on recovering perishable foods, and 66% of the food we share is fruits & vegetables.
