Claire Can Ride for EEMV

Claire Can!! As most of you know I’ve been riding horses for 14 years now!! Thursday is my favorite day, more specifically 9:00 AM! This year my goal is $800 for EEMV.  This money will go to feeding our horses, which as we all know they eat a lot every day, vet care, to keep them healthy, and arena and barn maintenance.  Visit EEMV for more information about my therapy!

As you know I ride every Thursday to improve my balance, coordination, and core strength. "The term hippotherapy refers to how occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology professionals use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes." American Hippotherapy Assoc.  It's like getting OT/PT/ST and social emotional therapy all in one. I'm sitting up straight, holding my head up, holding on to the horse with my legs, all while giggling and talking during my ride. Of course the unfortunate seizure in there, but thankfully not very often. 

I could rave and rave about the awesome people at EEMV for days. Lindsay, my therapist, is the best! She cares for me as her own, pushes me to do my best, and never settles for anything less. Angie and Chris volunteer at EEMV and do so with passion and heart. Thank goodness for all the kind and giving people in the world. They make my day when they talk to me, even though they know I won't verbally respond. I just look at them and smile. :) Thanks to all that volunteer and work at EEMV, your giving spirit, and drive to make our community a better place are phenomenal people.
