People who know me know that I am passionate about science. I am endlessly fascinated by soil and ecosystem ecology, to which I had dedicated myself for the first 15 years of my career. I still love soil, but I recently made a pretty big career leap to academic administration, which meant leaving behind most of my work in the lab and field. I enjoy my new work very much, but this proved to be far more difficult than I expected. ISC has helped fill the gap created when I left my research.
Working with ISC has brought a new avenue for fulfillment for me, allowing me to share science in a different way. Rather than publishing my findings with a narrow subset of the scientific community, I can help thousands of regular people access the latest science and the scientists making the discoveries. ISC brings science to everyone who is curious. I am proud to be part of this organization!
Our budget is modest, and so you support in any amount will go a long way toward bringing even more engaging, low-cost or free science programming to the adult public in Chicago. We have already produced an impressive list of cool events and we have ambitious goals for expanding in the coming year.
The ISC Associates' Board aims to raise $5,000 by December 31, and I am striving to raise $500 of that. Please consider supporting my efforts to spread science!
