The target audience for the Food Pharmacy project includes new or expecting mothers, specifically those who are patients at our Cornerstone OBGYN practice. We can identify those in need by asking qualifying questions during their regular appointments and arranging regular deliveries. This program focuses on addressing inequities in food access, particularly for those facing transportation barriers or lacking resources or education to purchase appropriate food sources.
Low birth weight babies, especially within the African American community, are a growing concern in Richland County and across the country, and we hope to address this issue through our program.
