Hello! My name is Jenni Knox, and my brothers Max and Jake Scott are dedicated to fulfilling our mother’s commitment of supporting organizations working to end cancer – specifically the Wellness for Life® Mobile Health Program.
The Wellness for Life® Mobile Health Program is a prevention and early detection program that brings a variety of cancer and heart disease screening services out into the community via dedicated mobile health units to underserved or uninsured women in Kaufman and Rockwall counties.
Our beloved mother, Cissi Scott, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994 at the age of 42 years old. It was a stage 3 breast cancer, so physicians recommended an immediate radical mastectomy and reconstruction. This was performed 3 days after she received the diagnose. At that time, she was a single mother of 3 children working as a real estate agent. She loved her job; however, the downside was there was no pay unless she worked.
Mom worked throughout her cancer treatments to the best of her ability to provide for us and pay for her cancer treatments. She wasn’t alone during these treatments – mom had the entire real estate community rallied around her. Her real estate ‘family’ provided comfort and supported her when she needed it the most.
During her cancer journey, she realized her true calling, mom shared “It is sharing my story with other women when cancer touches their lives. IT IS BEING THERE FOR women who are not so fortunate and feel like they are losing their battle. I have a true compassion for all cancer patients that I could never have known without facing cancer myself. I honestly Thank God every day for allowing me to share my Gift with others. Please remind all women to have their annual mammogram. EARLY DETECTION IS A MUST!”
Sadly, our mother succumbed to metastatic breast cancer in 2020, and we miss our amazing mom every single day.
We will continue to fulfill our mother’s calling in life through our service to others and dedication to supporting organizations working to end cancer.
By supporting the Wellness for Life® Program, you not only impact the lives of the women who receive care but also the lives of their loved ones and friends within the community. Cancer is a deadly disease that does not discriminate based on race, culture, or economic status.
Please join my family in supporting the mobile health program so that we can ensure that no one has to lose a mom, wife, sister, daughter or friend because they could not afford care.
