$300 goal

Help us reach our two goals for Give STL Day!

Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $5,000 to directly support immigrant and refugee families in St. Louis. Your donation will make a real difference in their lives.

The goal of our program is to build a stronger community by connecting with new friends and neighbors. This includes potential donors, volunteers of all kinds (including tutors!), and anyone who wants to be a part of welcoming newcomers to St. Louis.

IHELP's one-on-one model of pairing volunteers with English learners is distinctly relational and benefits both students and volunteers in profound ways. IHELP views English learning as a tool for empowerment and connection with our community. Due to barriers including the expense of childcare and an almost non-existent public transit system, it can be extremely difficult for adults to attend English classes. We see this disproportionately affecting women. IHELP’s model embraces the concept of cultural humility, taking a learning posture with regard to the various backgrounds students come from. IHELP also welcomes volunteers who have come as immigrants themselves or for whom English is a second or third language. I cannot say enough in support of this amazing organization that places immense value on the worth of both English learners and volunteers. Please join me in supporting IHELP today!
