Makiyah is an active, fun girl who loves to cheer! That is where she finds her joy! She also loves animals, especially dogs.
She has a late diagnosis of ASD, which presents challenges with social communication. She also has Anxiety Disorder and has trouble being alone at times. She does not like to be alone when outside of the house, but will not always communicate when she is anxious, scared, or in an uncomfortable environment.
She has had difficulty being alone in situations many teens do not. As she is approaching young adulthood, it is imperative that she develop more independence and be comfortable navigating through some experiences without a parent, sibling, or friend.
A service dog would allow her to have a specially trained companion of comfort who can read her cues and body language, and respond to them in ways that can help her. Her dog will be trained to recognize anxiety triggers, redirection, provide tactile stimulation such as gentle nudges, calming pressure, and other measures when she needs it most.
Many members of her healthcare team have recommended a service dog as something she would benefit from now and in the future.
Please help her reach her funding goal by donating today.
