Our organization stands as a sentinel against hunger and malnutrition in San Diego County. We accomplish this not by providing food directly, but by leading coordinated actions rooted in meticulous research, comprehensive education, and persuasive advocacy. Our overarching aim is to enact systemic changes that address the underlying causes of nutritional insecurity.
While many may believe that the crisis has lessened with the passing of the summer months, the fact remains that the challenge of nutritional insecurity is a year-round issue. The need for our community to act is more urgent than ever. According to our latest Nutrition Insecurity Dashboard:
- An alarming 194,621 children in San Diego County are nutritionally insecure, representing 28% of the child population.
- Moreover, 151,391 older adults are in the same predicament, making up 22% of the senior population.
These figures are not mere statistics; they correspond to real individuals—our neighbors, friends, and family—who face daily hardships due to nutritional insecurity. This Nutritional Insecurity Campaign has been initiated precisely to confront this ongoing crisis. Your participation is not only welcomed but fundamentally necessary. Together, we can shape a community where nutritional well-being is not a privilege for a few, but a right for all.
