FIELD TRIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL STUDENTS

When you think back on some of your best memories growing up, do you remember getting to go on a field trip? Do you remember how excited you were the night before your field trip? You talked about who you wanted to sit by on the bus and what cool things you were looking forward to seeing on your trip. It didn't really matter where you were going, you were just excited that you didn't have to be at school for the day. You may not have realized your trip would still be educational!  That's the magic of experiencing education and being exposed to the possibilities the world has to offer. It feels fun and exciting. It is a welcome change from the routine of the classroom. You return feeling inspired with new information to apply to your classwork.

 Did you know the cost of field trips are not covered by the district?  Did you know that the school has to pay for transportation even when using district busses?  An average class field trip within 8 miles of your school can cost about $250 for a few hours, for just 1 bus. Think about how much it would cost if you were to travel to the state capital form Kingston. The cost would likely be over $700. I'll let you know when we get our bill! Those costs do not include any entrance fees or supply costs associated to your field trip location if they charge. We estimate field trips to be about $20 a student, give or take a few dollars depending on the location. There are about 25-30 students in an average class depending on the grade. We are asking for your help to ensure field trips are available for every student. Teachers often have to find grants, (if they are available) or not go to desirable locations because they are too expensive. Let's take that stress away for our teachers and cover the cost of FIELD TRIPS FOR ALL STUDENTS!
