When I became the Executive Director of Comfort House in March of 2006, I had no idea of the impact the organization would have on me. I am grateful everyday that I said yes to this position. 

Child sexual abuse is not something most adults want to think about, let alone talk about. Unfortunately, we know that it is happening and more often than most people believe. I am passionate about talking about it so that others can learn what I have learned over the last 18 years. 

Comfort House facilitates two prevention education programs for adults. We teach adults how to recognize the signs of abuse and how to react responsibly to outcries of abuse made by children of all ages.

Many children who are abused don't understand or know that they are being abused. Comfort House bridges that gap by teaching children about what physical and sexual abuse are through our prevention education program for students in grades K-12. 

 Comfort House also provides a safe space for children to tell their story in their words when they have made an outcry of abuse.  

It is not an easy topic to talk about, but Comfort House gives children the opportunity and COMFORT to do just that.
