We are so excited to share that we’re hosting our first annual BIPOC Summer Camp at the Common Ground Center this August. We received generous grants from the Vermont Humanities Council and the Haymarket People’s Fund for nearly $10,000, now we need to raise $15,000 to fund the rest of camp before July 15th! We’re offering a generous sliding scale starting at $25 and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Can you donate $500, $250, $100, $50 or $25 by July 15th to fund this crucial work? Any amount makes a huge difference. Donations are tax deductible!
Inspired by the spirit of the Vermont Educators of Color Association Retreats and Camp Outright, we’re organizing a BIPOC summer camp. We believe BIPOC youth deserve a space to connect, heal, build, and have fun together. With the rise of hate incidents coming out of the anti-CRT movement this space is more important than ever. This year, the Education Justice Coalition is expanding our youth organizing work to include our annual conference, regional meet ups, school visits, and more. This BIPOC summer camp is one piece of a puzzle to strengthen youth organizing in Vermont schools. Please donate and share or fundraise to support this work.
Here are the camp expenses your donation will fund:
$500 pays for all our food for one day of camp
$250 pays for a stipend for one youth planner
$100 pays for one day of lifeguarding
$50 pays for campfire wood
$25 pays for s’mores supplies
Thank you for supporting BIPOC youth in Vermont!
