Lord willing, I plan to travel to Costa Rica in July of 2025 with a group of other medical professionals to aid an organization called Corner of Love. I will need all of the assistance I can in making this trip possible.
Corner of Love is a clinic for Nicaraguans by a Nicaraguan. Nelson Amador is a native to Nicaragua who fled the Sandinista government there in 1983, coming to the US and gaining an education, as well as meeting and marrying his wife Tanya. They moved back in 1993, and in 2000 they established Corner of Love as a way to be the hands and feet of Jesus to their neighbors. They faithfully served the local populations with the help of various missions from healthcare providers, and in conjunction with local churches. Unfortunately they had to flee Nicaragua again in 2018 when the Sandinista government criminalized humanitarian aid. They settled in Costa Rica on the border with Nicaragua and continue to provide what health services and aid they can to the many refugees, Nicaraguan and otherwise.

When I first heard of this mission I was immediately drawn to it, despite not being “in the market” for a trip. Primarily what drew me was that this is for the locals by the locals, not arranged and executed by an external force set up to “save all those poor people”. I love the heart shown by Nelson and Tanya and can see how they are making a service that truly cares for the people in the area in need.
In order to go on this trip I will need airfare (likely between $600-$700), $1,850 (to house and feed me for 6 days, and contribute to the clinic), with an additional $500 pharmacy donation requested but not required. I will also need two 50lb suitcases full of donated supplies.
It’s a tall order.
So I come, asking for you to prayerfully consider supporting me in this endeavor to use the skills, education, and compassion I have been given to serve this population.
