It's been over 4 years for me, working at the Race Track Chaplaincy, and certainly a blessing to be a part of this ministry in the Derby City. So many of you enjoy a day at the races but do you realize the amount of work that takes place on the backside to bring those powerful horses to the "show" on the frontside. Hotwalkers, grooms, exercise riders, jockeys, trainers and barn staff are up early in the morning to train and ready horse and rider. It isn't a lifestyle most would choose but love of horses and being outdoors has an appeal. Like the rest of us, they have struggles and need community but the horses don't take Sunday off so attending church is usually not possible.

The Chaplaincy provides chaplains at each of 4 tracks in Kentucky as well as at Belterra in So. Ohio.  A meal and worship service is provided each week in the evenings. And the chaplains walk the barns daily, developing relationships, counseling, sharing joys and sorrows and offering lots of prayer. We also help in practical ways with a clothing closet, transportation to doctor appointments, hospital visits or other things as needed. Community is being created and nourished daily.

Your financial support and willingness to participate in our ministry can make a significant difference. As we enter the second half of 2024, we invite you to become a partner of the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy. Your role in this partnership is crucial and deeply valued. Whether you contribute a financial amount or pray, your generosity will directly and significantly impact the lives of the backside workers we serve, providing them with the spiritual, emotional, and material support they need.
