House of Blue Hope: 2024 Annual Appeal

Currently, Tanzania is home to more than 1 MILLION orphaned children. 2 MILLION more children in Tanzania have a mother or father who is deceased. Fifteen percent (15%) of children born in Tanzania will not survive past five (5) years of age. And, nearly forty percent (40%) of working-age adults in Tanzania are unemployed. These grave statistics illustrate the massive need for House of Blue Hope and the support of our donors.

As we near the close of 2024, House of Blue Hope is proud to celebrate a HUGE milestone, 100 children under our roofs! As you read this Stewardship Report, House of Blue Hope is in the process of filling its 7th house on our way to fulfilling our 5-year goal. In 2019, HBH’s U.S. based Board of Directors (comprised of 100% volunteer Board Members), established this 5-year plan.

With the support of you, our HBH family of generous donors, we have grown from supporting twenty-nine (29) children at the beginning of 2019 to one hundred four (104) children by the end of 2024, +350% growth! House of Blue Hope now employs nearly thirty (30) staff members, including our amazing house mamas, social workers, security guards and teachers. 2024 has also proved to be a record-breaking fundraising year for our team, raising over $250,000 for the first time in our organization’s 18-year history.

HBH provides current support to four (4) older students, as they seek their college degrees, recently seeing Adam Gidion graduate from the College of Business Education with a degree in Information Technology. A fitting end to Adam’s fourteen (14) year tenure with House of Blue Hope. The HBH Daycare, which opened in 2020, has continued to grow and provide early education to our youngest kids and thirty (30) additional children from our Mabibo community. Daudi Mboma, our in-country Director, has successfully organized our Tanzanian advisory board, who will be instrumental in helping oversee HBH’s continued growth. With board members who have experience and expertise in banking and education, big things are on the horizon.

As we continue our mission of “overcoming poverty through education … one child at a time” there is much work that needs to be done. Over the next five (5) years, House of Blue Hope has aspirations of: 1) opening a robust library for our children and kids from the community; 2) implementing a personal and professional development program, through community partnerships, to benefit the growth of our children; 3) developing of a STEM learning facility for our HBH kids; and 4) taking the first steps in creating and breaking ground for the House of Blue Hope Primary School and living compound.

Please know that these massive accomplishments are YOUR accomplishments. Your donations are the engine of the House of Blue Hope machine, helping our children “overcome poverty through education”.
