2024 Giving Tuesday for NWA Humane Society

We are so excited to be a part of Giving Tuesday!  It is a great time to take a moment from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and give back to our community!  We encourage everyone to smile a little bigger, be more patient, pet a dog or cat, and give what you can.  Giving can be your time - volunteering, talent - do you have mad skills that can help someone or an organization, treasure - donating needed items or funds!

We are one of the ONLY non-profit shelters in NWA, relying on grants and the generosity of our community and loyal supporters!  We so appreciate every single one of you!  We have amazing regular and group volunteers!  People who donate to us annually, quarterly and monthly.  We appreciate you and your support of our mission to rescue, shelter, love and get our animals adopted into loving homes!

This year we have seen an 12% increase in abandoned dogs being brought to our shelter!   On top of that, we have seen a 13% decrease in adoptions, and a 21% decrease in animals being reclaimed by their owners after being brought to the shelter.  A double whammy, which has led to us housing about 26 more dogs monthly, about 30% more dogs than average.    Being extremely frugal and leveraging all of our resources (including transporting throughout the midwest), these extra mouths to feed have increased our monthly costs by $1000, or $12,000 per year.

Would you consider making a recurring monthly donation?  Not only does this help with our current situation, but also helps us be prepared for unforeseen events like Puppy Mills Seizures or Hoarding situations!  Many can remember when we took in over 100 Beagles, that stayed with us for over a year while the case worked through the court system.  

Your monthyly gift can help us in so many ways:

$25 -  Feeds one dog for the month

$50 - Covers spay/neuter for one dog 

$75 -  Sponsor a dog's care monthly

$100 - Completes the Transport medical requirements and gas to get a dog to a new home in the Midwest

Monthly donations can be made several ways, credit card, secure bank draft, or Paypal/Venmo/Applepay apps.  

If a monthly donation isn't in your budget, but you want to give, there are several ways to help us!

• Donate items we need:
  • Canned or Dry dog/puppy or cat/kitten food
  • Soft, chewy training treats (Beggin' Strips, Pupperonis etc)
  • Visit our Walmart Registry for other needs
  • Stamps for letters
• Volunteer with us!  We have many volunteer opportunities
• Share our posts or take an #Unselfie to share on social media stating why you support us
• Host a fundraiser and share with your friends!  It's easy and fun to do!
• Cans for Canines!  Save your aluminum cans and bring to the collection dump bin outside of the Transport Hub
