The Dru Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion and
acceptance, works to nurture gay straight alliances across the nation by providing the only free and
comprehensive, intersectionally focused GSA curricula online.
In addition, since its founding, The Dru Project has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarships to
bright, deserving scholars – easing the burden of crushing student loan debt and fostering a new
generation of young folks to tackle big issues at the forefront of our political environment, including: gun
safety legislation, gay and transgender rights, and greater access to higher education – especially for
marginalized communities.
Formed in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida, The Dru Project
commemorates the life of Drew Leinonen, a staunch advocate for gay liberation and scholarship. In 2024,
we honor what should have been Drew’s 40th birthday.
