The Asclepius Initiative

At The Asclepius Initiative, we believe health care is a human right, not a luxury. Our mission is to provide education and build support for a universal health care coverage system in the U.S.– one in which everyone has access to high-quality, affordable coverage from birth until death, without fear of losing it when life changes happen.

Kentuckians’ health challenges remind us why this work is so urgent. In our 2024 statewide survey, people across the Commonwealth told us that they skip doctor visits, don’t take all their medications, and find it hard to understand their health care coverage. More than half of those with insurance still can’t afford the care they need. These stories show the need for major change: a system that doesn’t leave people behind.

While we work toward that goal, we are helping Kentuckians manage the complex system we have now. Our easy-to-understand resources and tools help people understand the available options and how to lower their costs while maximizing their benefits. This helps today, while also showing why real, lasting change is necessary to improve lives for tomorrow.
