Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra

A nonprofit organization

SASO seeks to nurture and inspire audiences and artists alike through the joy of classical music. Serving our Southern Arizona community as well as connecting to the international music community at large, we create unique, vibrant and accessible experiences that celebrate the tradition and future of classical music in its many forms.

Founded in 1979, The Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra has grown into a vital community resource that unites performers and audiences through a mutual love of music. The orchestra presents a wide range of compositions, including world premieres, seldom-performed treasures and popular classics. SASO brings together student, amateur and professional musicians with exceptional soloists, composers and conductors. Under the baton of Music Director Linus Lerner, this local community orchestra has toured twice to China, once to Brazil and performed for the past five years at the San Luis Potosí Opera Festival in Mexico. SASO has released two commercial recordings and presents five concert programs each season in two or more locations.

Testimonials

"The orchestra has blossomed under the leadership of Maestro Linus Lerner. The concert programs he has assembled and led have challenged players and audiences alike. Really tough pieces well performed.'
-Edward Kane, longtime SASO fan
