Nu Deco Ensemble

Founded by Sam Hyken and Jacomo Bairos in 2013, Nu Deco Ensemble is Miami's 21st-century orchestra with a mission to create compelling and transformative musical experiences that inspire, enrich and connect new and diverse audiences and artists. 

As a flexible and innovative hybrid orchestra, Nu Deco Ensemble’s artistic vision focuses on performing works by living composers, creating cutting-edge collaborations with special guests, re-arranging works by innovative artists, and engaging and activating the entire community through dynamic outreach and educational programming.

Some of this season's highlights include:

• Live and streamed performances from the New World Center, Colony Theatre, Miami Beach Bandshell, and Adrienne Arsht Center featuring new music from Marc Mellits, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Nu Deco clarinetist Mark Dover; symphonic reimaginations of the music of Stevie Wonder, Talking Heads, Rihanna, Prince, Nina Simone, and more; original works composed by members of the ensemble and selections from our latest album release, Duende; Special collaborations with Tank and the Bangas, Lucius, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Joy Oladokun, Durand Jones & Emily King, and Alfredo Rodríguez.
• The launch of Nu Deco's new series of performances at The Citadel, Nu Deco Lounge, which will include weekends of performances featuring two back-to-back performances with some Nu Deco classics and new reimaginations.
• Live and streamed thematic education concerts from the Arsht Center that fulfill Florida and National Music Standards and reach 40,000+ Miami-Dade County Public School K-12 students annually.
• The continued growth of our youth ensemble, Nu Deco NXT, fostering the holistic growth of Miami's young musicians through the four pillars of 21st-century performance, musical creation, mindfulness, and leadership.
• The launch of Nu Deco M-DCPS Teacher Tickets, that will provide free tickets to Miami-Dade County Public School teachers for all of Nu Deco's main concert programs.
• Digital releases across all streaming platforms, including collaborations with artists such as Monsieur Periné, X Ambassadors, and Derrick Hodge, and symphonic suites of popular music.
