Who We Are

Last year over 350 7-18 year old kids participated in Leopard programs from 53 zip codes and 145 different schools in the Louisville area. Since 1993, we've expanded our original elementary school performing group of 24 kids to presently include a beginner and an advanced ensemble, 2 middle & high school steel pan performance ensembles, a middle school percussion ensemble, two additional elementary school ensembles, a high school group, a small combo group, 2 world drumming classes, group drum set classes, a drumming and tutoring partnership, and 9 sessions of summer camps open kids in 2nd-12th grade.

Over three decades of rhythm, passion, and percussion - The Louisville Leopard Percussionists have been hitting the stage for 31 years!  No one could have imagined that in 1993 after accidentally stumbling on some small percussion instruments in a closet, The Leopards would become a world-renowned kids' music ensemble powerhouse. From local venues to national showcases, these young percussionists prove that age is no barrier to brilliance, captivating hearts and leaving an indelible mark on the world of youth percussion ensembles.

Through our programs, kids learn to play music and care for the instruments, but they also learn how to work hard together and experience the success of that hard work. They learn not only music, but how to support and lift each other up. They learn what it means to represent their community in a positive way and gain self-confidence through the process. 

Every year, LLP holds their biggest performance called "The BiG GiG" at The Brown Theatre. We invite you to come see us on April 13th 2025 for The BiG GiG and experience The Louisville Leopard Percussionists for yourself!
