Faith HEALS

Faith HEALS mobilizes communities to improve the health and well-being of African Americans through faith and healings practices. We do so through the Community Chaplaincy Project, People Care, & Mobilizing the Faithful Plus Workshop:
The Community Chaplaincy Project is a community of faith healers using gift of presence to be sacred story keepers. We use our skills along with somatic (bodily) healing practices, vocational heritage, and natural elements as tools for increasing access to spiritual care. community chaplaincy fosters a sense of community, decreases isolation and loneliness, and supports holistic approaches to health and healing with focus on Americans of African descent and LGBTQIA+ individuals but open to all. Community Chaplains are available for community events and to provide care in non-profit organizations.

People Care is care for the people that make organizations go! The initiative provides resources to organizations who wish to shift their culture to better care for their people with a framework that improve business outcomes. Staff and volunteers who work on the frontlines in marginalized communities often take on secondary trauma. The People Care framework is a workplace wellness program that helps to mitigate trauma. People Care is a workshop and a curriculum that can be customized for organizations.

MTF+ is a workshop which uses a framework of Data, Faith, & Healing that deals with the history and conditions of structural racism and how those conditions created an environment where disparities thrive. It invites participants to look through the lens of their faith and theological lineage to consider how it contributes to their response to inequities. Participants will discover how healing practices can address trauma that settles in the body and how to respond to it.
