For over a century, the Arizona Wildlife Federation (AWF) has been at the forefront of conservation, dedicating itself to safeguarding Arizona’s wildlife, habitats, public lands, and ensuring that all Arizonans have access to the outdoors for recreation. Through science-based and collaborative efforts, AWF advocates for the protection of vital habitats that sustain over 800 species of wildlife in Arizona and provide countless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Our work spans Arizona’s landscapes, from its iconic grasslands to its mountainous forests, ensuring these areas remain accessible for future generations of outdoor enthusiasts.
Our educational programs, including the new All Afield with AWF! initiative, offer hands-on outdoor experiences for families, women, youth, and underserved communities, helping people build a deeper connection to nature while expanding their outdoor skills and knowledge of wildlife conservation. Our Volunteers for Wildlife are actively working to improve habitats in southern Arizona, removing miles of barbed wire fencing that hinder pronghorn antelope migration. Meanwhile, the Garden for Wildlife Program empowers individuals to support wildlife from home by creating certified wildlife habitats in their own yards.
In addition to these impactful programs, we engage in strategic advocacy at both the state and national levels, collaborating with lawmakers and conservation organizations to shape policies that benefit both wildlife and Arizona’s economy. AWF’s efforts directly influence public lands and outdoor recreation, an industry that contributes over $14 billion to the state’s economy and supports more than 100,000 jobs.
Supporting the Arizona Wildlife Federation means investing in the future of Arizona’s wildlife and habitats, public lands, outdoor recreation, and outdoor heritage. AWF is working to ensure our state's public lands remain vibrant, healthy, and accessible for all. Your support helps us continue this important work, ensuring that Arizona’s landscapes and wildlife thrive for generations to come.
LEW CARPENTER, DIRECTOR OF CONSERVATION PARTNERSHIPS, NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION
"When I think about wildlife conservation organizations that really mean something day in and day out, Arizona Wildlife Federation (AWF) is top of my list. From its powerful volunteer leadership to its driven staff, they don’t just do the work, they also educate, motivate, inspire, and mentor new generations of conservation leaders and organizations. From a value proposition standpoint, AWF is best-in-class and driving a wildlife conservation strategy to be envied throughout the West and at the federal level. I and the National Wildlife Federation are grateful to work with such outstanding leadership."
RYNA ROCK, AWF LIFE MEMBER AND PAST BOARD PRESIDENT
"For 50 years, I’ve been witness to the transformation of the AWF into the effective powerhouse of public education, on-the-ground projects, and collaboration it is today. I entered the conservation arena in my late 20s, a member of the Coconino Sportsmen in Flagstaff. I’ve served in nearly every office there is in that group and the Arizona Wildlife Federation. I am proud to be a Life Member and Past President of the AWF. I observed with joy and satisfaction AWF’s forward progress for I, and other dedicated folks over the years, always felt the potential this historic group held. Today, with 17 affiliates and many working partners, the AWF is a powerful voice within the wildlife/conservation arena in Arizona and the Southwest. Today’s AWF is extremely successful in bringing diverse groups, agencies, and people together to educate, discuss, problem solve, find/provide solutions, and put “boots on the ground.”
