Wild Mammal Care of Alabama provides compassionate care for Alabama’s wildlife focusing on the rehabilitation of its indigenous injured and orphaned mammals for their return to a natural habitat; and advocating through education the importance of wildlife stewardship, the awareness of human impact on wildlife, and a responsible approach to the conservation of our ecosystem.

WMCoA offers an invaluable service for Alabama’s 67 counties with an EMERGENCY HOTLINE manned 365 days a year historically answering 2000 calls annually.  This free service provides assistance and information for those who have found injured or orphaned wild mammals or who have questions regarding other wildlife issues.  Wild mammals not located in the general Birmingham area can still receive the same quality care because of our ever growing TRANSPORT NETWORK. Due to the generosity of volunteers willing to drive even a portion of the way, all of Alabama's wild mammals have rehabilitation options they haven’t had before.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

It’s a huge misconception that because we provide care for all of Alabama’s wild mammals we must be state or government funded. Sadly, nothing could be farther from the truth. A non-profit organization operating under IRS code 501(c)(3), WMCoA receives NO government funding and is solely funded by donations from you, the kind spirited general public. Since nearly all of Alabama’s wild mammals are not protected by law, it is up to all of us to be their voice, their defender, their provider when they can’t provide for themselves.  Not surprisingly monetary donations are our greatest need. They pay for food, medicine, vet care, supplies and housing allowing our patients the highest standard of care; however, they are mostly needed for a facility to care for our wild mammal’s emergencies. Once a clinic is obtained, WMCoA can save more lives faster by offering in-house specialized treatment.  In the meantime, listed below are a few ways you can lend a hand:

  • At no cost to you, join GOODSEARCH.COM along with GOODSHOP.COM to earn easy money for WMCoA every time you surf and shop on the web.  You can also find us on SMILE.AMAZON.COM
  • Follow us on Facebook where you can keep up with our patients and get invaluable information about different species.  FACEBOOK.COM/WMCOA
  • Sign up to become a very much needed VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTER so our wildlife can hitch a ride to WMCoA when in need.
  • If you can use a phone and can text, you can save lives by checking messages on our HOTLINE allowing us to work on critical cases without stopping and starting. This simple task is a huge help and involves so little.

Please help WMCoA continue to provide care for our wild mammals by making an urgently needed 100% tax deductible donation.  No amount is too small!

With heartfelt thanks,
