With a name that comes from the number of veterans who commit suicide each day (22!), We Are the 22 (WAT22) is the Veteran Suicide Intervention Team.

Founded in 2017 by Mikel Brooks, our sole focus is face-to-face, peer-to-peer veteran suicide intervention. And our experience just over the past year proves that our strategy works and saves lives.

COVID-19 had created challenges for all of us - including veterans in suicidal crisis. I'm saddened to report that our demand is high and our resources are limited. 

So here's the deal, we need your help. Urgently.

When notified of a veteran in suicidal crisis, we immediately intervene. In person. Whenever and wherever the veteran happens to be.
