Washington Health Outreach

Washington Health Outreach improves community health by providing free and low cost veterinary, health, and social services for our neighbors.

More than 40,000 people are experiencing homelessness in King County, and more than 100,000 low income households are severely cost burdened (paying more than 50% of their income on housing).

About 7.6 million pets enter United States shelters each year, and 2.7 million of them are euthanized. The most common reasons people relinquish their pets include housing and financial barriers to providing care for their animals, especially veterinary care.

Washington Health Outreach seeks to eliminate the barriers that prevent people from accessing the care and resources they need for their pet(s), so that people and pets in our community can live healthier and happier lives together. We operate mobile pop-up clinics at least once weekly, typically hosted by partner organizations that offer other services and resources that our clients need.

Founded in March 2023, we are a small, primarily volunteer organization (with the exception of contracted veterinarians). So far, we have served clients and patients in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston Counties. We do our best to maintain a consistent schedule and return to the same locations at regular intervals so that our clients know they can rely on our team. Our regular monthly host partners include Real Change News, Ballard Food Bank, Renton Library, and the Puyallup Tribe. We have also visited Hepatitis Education Project, Evergreen Treatment Services, Regional Animal Services of King County, FOB Hope Veterans Village, Nisqually Tribe, El Centro de la Raza, Park Place Senior Living, and numerous mutual aid pop ups, encampments, and RV residences.

We need support from the community to better fund our programs to meet the growing needs of so many of our neighbors! Our goal for GiveBIG this year is to raise $10,000 to fund our programs.
