Davis Arts Council Inc

A nonprofit organization

71 donors

From humble beginnings in 1979, when the mayor of Layton City asked a few community-minded citizens to begin a program of cultural activities that would make the arts accessible to a wide spectrum of the community, the Davis Arts Council is celebrating its 37th anniversary, and has a vision to become “recognized as the leading, premiere community arts organization in Utah by 2020.”

“Summer Nights with the Stars”

In 1995, the arts council partnered with Layton City, private donors, and business sponsors to build the beautiful Edward A. Kenley Centennial Amphitheater. Acquiring this venue inaugurated the first of DAC’s successful SUMMER NIGHTS WITH THE STARS seasons, offering a variety of extraordinary ticketed events including music, dance, and theatre.

“DAC the Halls”

Debuting in 2010, DAC THE HALLS is our annual holiday tradition. The Davis Arts Council presents a family-friendly holiday event at a very affordable price. The goal with this program is to bring our community together for a communal celebration of the arts and the spirit of the holiday season.

FREE PROGRAMMING

“Free Sunday Night Concert Series”

The longest running free concert series in the state and a jewel in the Davis Arts Council’s crown, the FREE SUNDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES presents a free concert every Sunday evening at the Kenley Amphitheater, June through August. In addition to providing a gathering place for families and friends to enjoy the varied performing arts of local talent, for over 30 years young talent has been nurtured on our stage, giving budding artists an opportunity to perform in front of a live and enthusiastic crowd and hone their skills.

“Active Stages: Arts in Education”

Initiated in 2008, the ACTIVE STAGES: ARTS IN EDUCATION program allows us to partner with other like-minded organizations to bring a performance to area elementary schools free of charge, giving some children their very first taste of live theater.

“Davis Arts Chamber Music Series”

Another new program initiated in 2010.  Once monthly, October through May, the Davis Arts Council presents FREE CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES concerts featuring the best in local vocal and instrumental musicians at Alpine Church in Layton.

“Snow Horse Visual Arts Gallery”

Opened in January 2011, the SNOW HORSE VISUAL ARTS GALLERY is DAC’s entrance into the world of visual art.  A rotating art gallery at the Davis Conference Center that showcases student, amateur, and professional artists has been established.

"Senior Stages- The Art of Aging"

In it's 2015 inaugural year DAC presented SENIOR STAGES, 3 short pieces of profesional theatre written by, for and about senior citizens to this wonderful community in senior centers, assisted living facilities and community recreation centers. Serving those who can no longer travel to see the theatre they love, these short plays address issues that affect and honor our senior community.

"Free Friday Family Film Festival"

A new program beginning Summer 2017, every Friday night from June through August, the Davis Arts Council will present the FREE FRIDAY FAMILY FILM FESTIVAL at the Kenley Amphitheater. Gather with your friends and families and enjoy a FREE movie under the stars.
