Concussions and traumatic brain injuries are generally associated with athletes or military veterans. However, Barrow Neurological Institute was the first to recognize that survivors of domestic violence suffer from these conditions as well. In 2012, the Concussion & Brain Injury Center at Barrow created the Domestic Violence Brain Injury Program, the first of its kind in the world, to identify and treat individuals with brain injuries caused by domestic abuse.
