LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR…

STARC first began serving individuals with disABILITIES in St. Tammany Parish in 1972. Since that time STARC has begun offering limited services in four surrounding parishes: Tangipahoa, Washington, St. Helena and Livingston.
When STARC first started we served 3 children. Today STARC is serving nearly 1,400 individuals and their families at any given time. STARC is determined to provide a lifetime of critical quality services despite the ongoing budget cuts we have received over the years.

As individuals with disABILITIES age, their need for services, of course, increases. Today individuals who had a life expectancy of 30+ years are now, thankfully, in their 70’s because of an enhanced and enriched life.

I am motivated to give to STARC daily when I hold a precious, innocent baby with multiple special needs in my arms; when I talk with anxious parents whose world has just been turned upside down by life changing challenges and struggles, or when I share in the joy of a client’s success. The Lord immediately confirms in my spirit that we have to keep moving forward…together!
