VISION: Our vision at Restorative Services is to create a world where mental health therapy and Restorative Justice work hand-in-hand to heal individuals and transform communities. Through our integrated approach, we aim to provide holistic support to those affected by conflict, trauma, and mental health challenges in order to foster healing, understanding and resilience. 

MISSION: Utilizing the principles and practices of Restorative Justice, St. Croix Valley Restorative Services works with victims, offenders, and community members to address and repair the impact of crime and interpersonal conflict. 

Our commitment to Restorative Justice principles drives our efforts to promote understanding, empathy, and accountability among individuals affected by conflict and harm. Through our Restorative Justice programming, we create transformative spaces where participants can engage in meaningful dialogue, find resolution, and restore relationships fractured by past challenges.

What IS Restorative Justice??

"A system of criminal justice which focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large." 

Rather than justice as a 'punishment,' Restorative Justice conceives of justice as 'repair' to the harm caused by crime and interpersonal conflict. Understanding and responding to the needs of each involved party and the broader community is central to the collective creation of a just outcome. 

Dealing with healing.

Change of behavior by a change of heart. Restorative Justice Services engage those most impacted by crime and conflict in meaningful dialogue.  Accountability and healing are outcomes as the process restores connections, promotes empathy and increases self-worth.

Volunteers are crucial to representing the community and helping both victims and offenders in healthy living. Restorative Justice services utilize volunteer community members and address the harm caused by crime and conflict. Storytelling that promotes accountability and healing is a primary tool promoting a change of behavior by a change of heart.

Restorative Counseling Services provide Licensed Mental Health support, within an accessible community agency, at a price-point that is also accessible. We work to remove the barriers to mental health support in our area.

Does Restorative Justice actually work?

Restorative Justice has been shown to be effective in many cases. Research suggests that it can lead to higher levels of victim satisfaction, increased offender accountability, and reduced recidivism rates compared to traditional punitive approaches. Restorative Justice focuses on repairing harm and restoring relationships, which can have positive outcomes for all parties involved and the community as a whole.
