Scraplanta: A Joyful and Inclusive Space for Creativity

Scraplanta Creative Reuse is a 501(c)3 non-profit on a mission to empower artists, makers, teachers, and students to create beautiful works of art from discarded materials. Atlanta is a vibrant community filled with wonderful artists who just need more access to affordable art supplies and classes. Through your donation, we can make art more accessible and sustainable for Metro Atlanta Creatives. 

Art Supply Thrift Stores

Scraplanta operates two art supply thrift stores within the Metro Atlanta Community. The newest addition is the "Scraplet" which is the only art supply store south of I-2o and serves Southwest Atlanta. This new location allows for Scraplanta to host larger workshops and divert more items from the landfill. 

Craft Workshops

Scraplanta's art workshops launched in March 2023, and since then we've hosted 67 workshops with 474 participants. Scraplanta's workshops are led by volunteer artists who donate their time to share new skills with the community. Our workshops are sliding scale to bring affordable craft education opportunities to the community. This year, we hired a community coordinator to streamline workshop scheduling and implement recurring events. We are proud to host monthly Zine Clubs and Sewing Circles in both locations. We also added Scrappy Papermaking to our CreateATL location during Family Sundays as an affordable way for families to learn how to make paper with their little ones.

Waste Diversion

At our core, Scraplanta works to keep art supplies out of the landfill. We inspire the community to make art instead of waste. In 2024, we received 58,780 pounds of art supplies from 200 different zipcodes across the Southeast! Our team works tirelessly to sort, organize, and sometimes recycle our materials. We've partnered with community organizations to donate excess materials for productions, art projects, and even dog shelters!

What's Next for Scraplanta!!!

Now that we have two stores, a regular workshop schedule, and a pretty smooth donation intake process, what's next for Scraplanta? 2024 made us realize that there is so much more work for us to do to keep Atlanta creative. We are raising money to improve the quality of our programs and operational efficiency.
