SASFest offers a place for LGBTQ+ readers and writers to network, share ideas, solve problems, and celebrate success. A three-day event held each March in tandem with our parent organization, the Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival, SAS offers literary discussion panels, master classes for writers of any experience level, a reading series where writers share their work, fun evening events, and a book launch party for our SAS fiction contest finalists. Each year, we induct members into our SAS Hall of Fame to celebrate the crucial contributions of LGBTQ+ writers, publishers, promoters, and others who impact the community.
The Saints & Sinners LGBTQ+ Literary Festival was founded in 2003 as a new initiative designed as an innovative way to reach the community with information about HIV/AIDS, particularly disseminating prevention messages via the writers, thinkers and spokes-people of the LGBTQ+ community. It was also formed to bring the LGBTQ+ literary community together to celebrate the literary arts.
The Festival has grown into an internationally-recognized event that brings together a who’s who of LGBTQ+ publishers, writers and readers from throughout the United States and beyond. The 2024 Festival will be our 21st year of Saints & Sinners, and we will be celebrating in the French Quarter March 22-24!
